Lots of views. I’d be interested to know how many other people have squeezed more speed using this guide ?

Sadly since passing his car test, my sons scooter has sat about in the back of the garage under a sheet. I work away now and normally spend my weekends sorting my own bikes out.
This scoot still needs speed testing following it's new belt, then I think it will be going up for sale.
I'm expecting 53-57 mph on the flat and 60-65 downhill.
I'm gonna be sad to see it go but it's just not getting used.

Try not using the throttle with the starter button

See my thread in the zx50 department,
The principles are the same.
You'll get over 50mph

I don't think the fault is with the kickstart spigot (driven gear )
To double check, lift the spigot out then whilst holding the cvt cover in one hand, pull the kickstarter as if it's being kicked and have an assistant drop the spigot in. Slowly release the kick
Start handle and the spigot will drop
Against it's spring. The cvt cover can now be refitted.. Before you do though, make sure your starter
Bendix is fitted correctly as these can rattle against the outer variator if they are not fully home

I've got four bikes, I've been riding longer than most of you on here have been alive.
All front tyres do that, more so the faster you take corners.

Take a look at your rear tyres, they should look like the edge of a coke can.. Round.
If they are going square across the profile, your doing too many miles in a straight line.. Buy a Harley!

Alternatively, fit a new tyre and seek out nice bendy roads to rip around on !

Sounds like a mixture issue to me.
First things first, get the bike hot, switch off, then carefully remove the spark plug.
Watch out! It won't be cold !
Have a good look at it and identify the insulator next to the sparking point. Note it's colour.
If it's white, the mixture is lean, if it's sooty or oily black, the mixture is rich.
Clean, gap and refit the old plug.
Using the stand on a chock of wood , lift the rear wheels off the ground then use my mixture setting guide in the zx50 thread area.

Once the mixture is set...
If your plug insulator was originally white, your good to go.. But,
If it was sooty/oily black you'll need to swap it now with a new plug.
Don't think you can refit a stinking plug because we need a "white sheet" to start the next step...
A plug colour check !

With a new/or white tipped spark plug fitted, Take the bike on a good run for say ten miles, then when you get home remove the plug and have a look at the colour of the insulator.
It should be a biscuity, ginger colour with a greyish tinge.
This is the correct colour.

If it's sooty black or oily black, your mixture is too rich and you need to down jet in the carb

If it's as white as it went in, your mixture is too lean and you need to up jet the carb.

There's idiots guides on YouTube how to do this.
When the mixture is correct and the spark plug is ginger, the bike will rev higher..
It's not rocket science kids...more revs means more speed !

Machine the boss down, one mil at a time and then reassemble. Using a sharpie pen, ink the inner variator so that once it's been reassembled and run up, you can see how high the belt is going up the variator (effectively making it a higher "cog" on the front) this will increase the gearing at the front.
He aim of he game is to have the belt ride right up to the top of the front variator at max revs.
If you accidentally take a little bit too much off making the outer variator strike the starter bendix (and don't have a spare boss) you can fit a small washer at the very back of the drive shaft behind the inner variator to give you some clearance.
This should only be a short term fix though as it will put your belt a tiny bit out of alignment.
Machine down in small amounts!
When it's near perfect, the outer variator will "chink" occasionally against the starter bendix when on the side stand but not when the bike is parked on centre stand.
Good luck !

Take the plug out and put your finger over the hole. Have an assistant push the kickstart by hand. Is there compression? It should force air from under your finger even if you press down hard

Is there fuel in the carb? If there is it's either a reed valve or jet fault
