Looks like all the plastic wall material where the bolts hold the visor/windshield to the scooter have disintegrated. Anyone know where to get a good replacement visor or a universal one that doesnt require the mirror arms to mount ? I have side arm mirrors now and have removed the stock mirrors.

Also, are visor bolt patterns universal ?

I could get large washers and longer bolts but that would look like crap unless maybe I painted them black.

Another possibility is to fill the holes with epoxy and re-drill the bolt holes and use rubber washers for dampening. And then hoping the epoxy bonds with the plastic well.

There is this one here but was looking for a cheaper option https://www.scooterdynasty.com/windshieldfor50cc-150cckymcosuper8.aspx

2013 Kymco Super 8

Thanks

Sorry Hank. After the 2T model was discontinued after 2103, there has been really no discussion on any for sure way of derestricting the Super 8's. If its a 4t, then I think the derestriction will involve the CDI and replacing the shouldered boss/washer with a smooth one.

Possibly this kit

I would not invest in a new exhaust or big bore kit unless you can get to 37 MPH with CDI/Boss derestriction first; and even then, since its not a 2T, a new exhaust or bigbore may not help it much.

I figured it out......never ever buy Naraku kits they are absolutely garbage. The kit was flawed from the start, I bought a PolinI 70cc kit and it gave me a reading of 150 PSI. No issues now, time to tune this thing......Grrrrrr. Just a warning to all spend the extra few $$$ and buy a good kit.

It was a complete waste of time troubleshooting the issue.

Yes I just replaced my top end. Was going to go with Nakuru but some googling of quality had me going with SPG (HOCA) as a compromise instead. There are no top quality stock top ends besides OEM that would take who knows how long to arrive. All top quality top ends are big bore kits and I dont want to do a big bore kit on a stock crank.

Super 8 / Re: 2018 Super8 50x derestricting CDI?!!!

Honest answer.

We just don't know. We mostly have older bikes and 2 strokes. 2018 is to new to this forum. Looks like Kymco is doing its best to prevent derestrictions on top of that. You can try and disconnect a wire or two in a non destructive manner  provided you can plug it back in. Getting a different CDI maybe. But its a brand new model and I think Kymco hurt its 49cc sales by doing away with the 2 stroke scooters so not to many forum members have the newer 4 stroke Super 8 scooters. And I only know of one that has the 2018 4 stoke scooter and thats you.

Won’t it allow the belt to come closer to to the rear axle = better gearing for higher speed?

Then he may want to try heavier rollers (Dr Pulley Sliders equivalent)  to counter act the contra spring rather than removing the rear pulley assembly as it is easier to remove the variator.

I sense the new 4 stroke kymcos are restricted at the carb and limited to revs. Dealers sell many types of bikes, so I couldn't expect them to know what Kymco has done to the new models coming out. My dealer was almost clueless and scratched their heads when I asked about derestricting my scooter prior to sale. They told me the bigger 82 jet was only needed if I changed elevation.

I had 8000 trouble free miles on my scooter. I might have been able to make that journey with the exception of the mud and floods and maybe getting bitten by a stray dog.

Here is a motorcycle trip from Connecticut to Panama posted on the CT Reddit. The main character quit his job to take a motorcycle adventure .A few redditers liked it although the main character does complain a bit. I think Im going to sit back with a beer and give it a watch. Its in HD.

87 degrees in my apartment last Tuesday when I got home. Took the scooter to work next day July 4th to avoid the traffic leaving our park and what a morning ride it was through the country side backroads to work.

This morning. Im wearing a sweater and wind breaker.

II remember Sand Pebbles, The Blob, Great Escape, and the famous Papillon but not the original magnificent Seven. I will make a point to watch the original because I did like the 2016 remake.

Super 8 / Re: 2012 50cc Super 8 2T Oil Pump
« on: July 05, 2018, 11:42:23 AM »
Yep after a bit of research, I see it just allows a certain amount of oil to bypass depending on the position of the cam.

My new top is work fairly good. I have put 100 miles on it and performance is par with a slightly less performance on hill tops. I expect this to get better as it breaks in.

So what I am doing now is putting 2 oz of Amsoil Dominator in the gas along with the injection. When I see the reservoir getting lower, I will know the pump is working and the probably will still put 1 oz of oil in the gas for safe measure along with the injection. Now to do this I understand on need to upjet so the mixture flows thru the jets at a similar volume as before. Switching or using premix wo upjetting can cause a lean mixture condition because the fuel will be now thicker than before. I think having my 95 main jet in place will be OK.

Right now I am not seeing any real excess smoke maybe a bit on cold start up and the cycle seems to be running ok. Amsoil claims their oils are ok for break in periods also.

I guess at some point one wants to wash out the jets and check the plugs here and there for signs of over enrichment when going from injection to premix or both at the same time.

Once, I see the pump is working, I will make sure there is no slack in the cable when the throttle is fully open and use 1 oz of quality premix as a precaution.

I think I may want to get a new oil pump myself. Where did you buy yours and how did you test to see if its working ?
