Xciting 500 / Re: valve stem replacement/extension.
« on: August 31, 2015, 05:27:21 AM »
I bought an extension that is used for trucks with dual or what is called dually wheels. This, about 1 foot long extension screws on to the stem, and it gives you plenty of length to easily ad air to the tire. Found them at pep boys. A normal car extension really does not work well on/for the X500.  :-*

I got the extension, but getting it onto the front valve is still hard. I think a local parts store has screw on 90 degre extensions. I'm going to try using that with the 1 foot extension. Hopefully I can just connect the one foot extension to the 90 degree and use that when needed, but not leave it permanently installed.

With increasing problem with my knee and my growing belly, keeping the tires inflated is discouraging me from ridging. Hopefully this will will fix it. :-)

That would definitely do it for mine :-)

I bought a Red 500ri in March 2010. It is now silver and pink on the right side from sitting on the side stand. I tend to think the only think that will work for --my-- scoot will be to either order new plastic and/or paint the plastic I have now. If I had any storage at my home (I live in a very small condo) I would do both.

I was told by a shop tech that the 90 degree valve stems is a bad idea because of wheel rotation at high speeds, break it off and you have a flat.
I use a short pressure gauge that works ok.

I am not sure how they would break off. I don't think they would protrude past the discs.

Thanks, Sissy Mary. We don't have Pep Boys here, but I'll take a loot in the auto stores.

For others...
Has anyone installed 90 degree metal valve stems?

Might the wheels have to be balanced to use them?

I apologize if this has already been hashed over.

Does anyone have a suggestion replacing the stock valve stems or an extension? It is nearly impossible for me to get an inflation valve on the stock valve stems.

Any and all info appreciated.

Hey bongoman :-)

Nice looking ride. Can you post better pics of the handlebars?

And... how have you kept that red so nice? I keep my scoot on the side stand, and the left side is almost silver/grey in places. I do keep it under cover when at home, but it sits in the sun when I park.

Send an email to that German company and see if they export to the US yet. I'll be surprised if the answer is yes.

...you can jump that switch out yourself...

..fairly easy to do, just snip and splice...

IS the switch hardwired, or are there connectors on the wires? If there are aires, couldn't a jumper be made fairly easily, allowing the modification to be easily reversed?

I bought ErMax standard size that duplicates the older model windscreen.  It's well made, good looking and bolts on with no issues. I got mine from Silverstonemotor.com .

What model year do you have?

Riding every day it isn't raining, or if I have to carry things to/from work I don't want to carry on the scoot.

Did you paint the entire panel, and which panel was it?

Depending on the model, there may not be any touch up paint. I have the red 500x. A fair amount of clear plastic over the ... paint... which has faded badly. The only for me is to replace the plastic, or completely paint it.

He's in the Democratic People's Republic of Croatiastan, it's a Worker's Paradise, where they get taxed for the oxygen they consume, and the carbon dioxide they produce, and with whatever's left they can by $10 a gallon gasoline.

But the wimmin are hott, and they swim nekkid in the Danube, so they got that going for them.

I always wanted to see the Danube. Now I know where to see it from :-)
