My transmission started feeling a bit strange, vibration and loss of power in the low rev range when taking off, so I decided to jump in and see what was up. It turns out my belt was in bad shape. A solid 10cm of the lower/inner corrugation was completely gone. I was somewhat surprised as the belt only had 8,000km on it. It was an Kymco OEM Mitsubishi belt too. Luckily I had a spare, previously used belt, and I've put that on while I wait for a new belt I ordered online to arrive.

While cleaning out the variator I noticed the back plate seems to get stuck easily when pushed right in. I think the 4 plastic glides on that back plate must be worn, so I've gone and ordered a new set of them as well. I'm assuming they are a wear and tare part? The bike does have 41,000 km on it at the moment so it can't hurt to change them.

Did a quick oil and filter chance at the same time. Overall the bike is still running really well. I honestly enjoy my commute to and from work each day on it.

Yes, the ramp plate sliders do wear out, causing the plate to get stuck and/or weird shifting over the rpm range.

Very weird for the belt to be missing teeth, check the other metal transmission parts for any visible wear.

This was some time ago, i have painted oxidized black plastics. I could have done a better job, but for the time & money invested i'm more than happy with the results.

I've used matte black paint for plastic bumpers in can

For an eye-catching look I use "heatgun trick" , many parts had to be dismantled but the results are more than enough.

I've read that once the plastic does that fade thing - the heat gun treatment only lasts for a limited time.
Please let us know how it works out for you.
(some spray paint the disassembled parts...)

Agreed, looks pretty good there.
What year was the scooter to get in that faded condition?
Parked outdoors?
Lot of sun?...Florida?

I have changed fork oil, no vice, no help.. it was tricky until i stopped trying to remove snap ring with screwdriver and used utility knife at this step
https://imgur.com/a/22vkDUE

 - it took a second only .. using utility knife for this operation should be in kymco manuals, it was so easy..

I need help with one thing though, when i removed the front wheel i have used the opportunity to check the wheel bearings.
They seem a bit hard to turn, but i don't have any experience with motorcycle wheel bearings .. i know they turn much, much easier when i played with them when they are new and from box ..
I'll post a video of me trying to turn them, there is a mark on bearing so it's easier to see the speed they are turning.

That looks a little too hard to turn! A new bearing should show a little drag from grease and seals but that thing looked like it was locked.

Where's a good place to get an oil filter?   Are the filters on Ebay OK?

Yes but HiFlo or Kymco branded. Other places to look are Amazon, Taiwan Big Scooter Shop or Bike-parts-kymco.
