The dremel is to make the metal locking tab (the part that unscrews at the end of the lock) the same size and shape as the plastic one on the DT. I used my grinder with an 1/8" blade to do it. It isn't critical to get it exactly the same, close is OK, because mine works and it ain't a perfect match.

Attempting to fix my broken speedo cable. Any thoughts? It snapped flush with the connector. I've tried to dig out as much of the old electrical wire as possible, but there is still some in there. And I'm not really sure how I'm going to re-attach the wire?

So yes, any ideas most gratefully received! (pic of connector with the plastic cover slid off)

Show that pic to the salesman at RadioShack. ....he'll have a connector, maybe.
Crimp something onto the wire that inserts into the black bit, with an adhering collar?

It's worth a go Stig - thanks. I could pop into my local car/bike parts retailer to see if they have anything suitable I guess I then have to snip off BOTH connectors and re-connect wires using a new connectors?.

Won't it be easier to just snip of the male & female connectors and replace them with new bullet ones? Make sure you electrical tape them up, zip ties on both ends and heat shrink it for water proofing.

Alright friends? (Oh God, what does he want now...)

The speedo is fixed (I have to admit I took the Kneeslider option here - bullet connectors and then I cocooned it in insulating tape)

It's the first time I've had the top fairing off. It was relatively easy job and, more surprisingly, quite easy to put back on again.

I have a question though. There are two recessed threaded holes in the main body of the plastic either side of the coolant cover (I can take a pic if needed)

What are they for? Have I missed something? Taking off the cover and looking behind the plastic they don't seem to do much.

Most importantly, I don't seem to have any bolts left over (unless 2 have rolled off the workbench)

Any thoughts?

As I had refitted the screen, I needed to have the flash on to see properly. You can see the two holes I mean to the left and right of the coolant cover.

Cheers!
