Shocks set to 3.... Not guy time to go out just now, but I'll see how things are tomorrow. The exhaust side shock adjustment isn't the easiest to get to eh?  -

Yeah, I'm taking I-81 as a straight shot through upstate NY, then crossing into Canada at the Thousand Islands. Then it's 401 to 416 and into Ottawa.

To adjust your rear shock, place you scoot i on its center stand, that lifts the weight off the rear hug, hence making it easier to adjust the shock preload.

Hi

Yeah, did all that and managed to get it adjusted in the end. Maybe my pin spanner wasn't quite the right tool for the job as I had to hook it in at quite a steep angle on the exhaust side. The other side however was a piece of cake.

Just a note of caution:

Do not use Goldfren brake pads. They eat into the rotor something fierce. I have gone thru two set of Goldfren, the AD and S33. About 25,000 kms off those two sets and my rotor is heavily grooved and past min thickness.

Spoken to my local Vesrah distributor and he too mentioned he has customers that were complaining of the same thing using Goldfren.

My Goldfren S33 (HH rated) front brake pads arrives yesterday and I installed them when I got home.
The front pads for the DT200 uses the Goldfren model code 022. As long as it's 022, it'll fit the scooter.

During the install I noticed you do not need to remove the caliper, you just need to:

1) screw out the pad locator pin, then pull it out and clean it
2) The pads will fall out, if not give the sliding caliper a shake to push in the pistons
3) test fit the pads to make sure they fit properly. Pushing the sliding caliper in towards the disc will help push the pistons further back into the caliper
4) fit in the new pads so the end sit in the notch for of the pad retainer, align the pads so the locator pin can slide back in
5) screw back in the locator pin. Use some locktite

Done.

I found a couple of videos (in Spanish, but they seemed straightforward enough) on yootoob which demonstrated how to reset the Downtown.

Turn on bike, count to ten, open throttle & count to ten, close throttle and count to ten after which you should see two flashes of the orange engine warning light to confirm all is done.

I don't get the flashes.  What's gone wrong?

Cheers!

Made it to Canada!

12 hours and only 9 gallons of gas! Did a lot of shooting with GoPro and Drift cameras. Messed up a lot of things, but really was shooting on the fly, and will correct any mistakes I made shooting the way back. The drive was incredible! The fatigue feeling I often get when I drive our students up in a 12 passenger van is gone. Never happened. Yes, I’m tired, and saddle sore, but the bike handling was amazing. Average speed -- between 65 and 75. Great weather. Great traffic.

Looking forward to the rest of week with better energy, and now a bike to have around the city.
