gear box vent go,s  to the air filter, that's why if you over fill the gear rear end, it blows into the air filter,. 7.1 Oz.s  or .21 liters,.  is the amount for the gear box,.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the bike

Thanks. I'm really pleased with my first scooter (having ridden bigger motorcycles in the past). I love the underseat storage for our crash helmets, the automatic transmission is brilliant, the weather protection (there is a Givi screen fitted) is excellent and I think the motor is very punchy in the mid range (and good for licence preservation at the top end).

The only issue I'm having is the lockable fuel filler cap - I cant get it to lock. I push the cap in and turn it - it gets tight and then loosens off again. Tight or loose, I can't get the thing to lock with the key. Luckily its hidden behind the plastic flap, but I'd still like it to lock. Any thought (or even a replacement)

Many thanks

With these bikes the gas system is sealed so you need this to work. It is also the reason I was able to go with almost 4 year old fuel and start the bike with no issue. I find I do not use the key but pushing the cap down into the tank latches it, and lets the key free from the cap itself.

My bike before this one was a 84' V65 Magna, a huge difference in the power band. TBH that bike scared the you know what out of me, just too much power. While I miss the raw torque these are more than adequate for daily travel. With the sliders at about 6,000 to 6,200 I can easily maintain 70MPH.

On my dt300 , you really have to push down pretty good, think the cap is spring loaded. Line up the tabs, push down with a little force and turn key clockwise. Hope that helps

don't turn the key after you push down , it will unlock the cap again,.

After contacting the seller, it turns out the fuel cap 'doesn't lock anymore.'

Not a major issue and one that's easily rectified. Thanks to all that responded.

took the front brake apart again, still dragging ,  it seems I did not clean all the old grease out of the pins holes, so I cleaned them out , lots of new grease , put it together , and went for a ride to the St. Laurant sea-way , 260 KM. later got home, checked the gas, and getting much better mileage,. 310 KM. on the dial and still two bars left,

Hi

Does anyone have any recommendations for mail order/UK Kymco Downtown parts suppliers?

I'm after a replacement petrol cap, but also looking to source general service parts when that time comes around.

Thanks in advance

That cap is most likely a factory part. Your best bet is an actual Kymco service dealer. Another option may be a body shop that has access to body repair parts.

Hate to burst bubble etc, I've just had to order a lock set for my DT (some sh** tried to nick it, broke steering lock and the alarm went off and scared it away, Ignition lock is OK but the steering lock is shagged) visiting dealer locally £93 for steering/ignition lock & fuel cap set. it only comes as a set, to make the keys match etc. when I get round to having all the front plastics off, gonna leave it a while til the hotter weather to save the clips and tabs. Looking at the cap in the new set I'd say that the cap probably comes apart easily enough, if you can find another cap pick n mix - fix etc :-)

Thanks for all the suggestions. I might have a look at the universal fuel caps in Halfords etc and see if there's anything there. No Kymco today though... It's flipping snowing !  The scoot is warm in its sheer plugged into the optimiser.....

Went out at 40F ffor a ride. Wanted to see how it felt in the cold at night. After a cold, but bearable, ride I can say I am surprised. I would not want this to be my primary transportation at these temperatures but in a pinch!
