You're lucky in th US, it's a different market.
Here ins the UK it's not easy to find cheap barely used scooters.
Barely used have quite high price almost regardless of age. :(

Doesn't this introduce more vibration on the mirror?

No Stig, not really, but it's nice to know it's there if I ever need it kinda thing :)
Occasionally I filled it with bottled water, plus other grocery shopping stuff.
The max I probably ever put in there was about 14-15kg.

Last weekend on my trip, me on my DT 300i with a friend on his naked CBF 600, we stopped at a roadside stop to take a look at our GPS, (trying to find a hilltop with a better view of the area).
Another biker on a CBF 600S rode past us, then tuned around and came back. First I thought he turned back because of the other Honda, but no. He stopped next to us and complimented the Downtown. He was following us from behind and saw the scooter can keep up with the bigger bike. It felt really good.

You're welcome! Please report back on how your valve adjustment had gone.

Youtube Felix Perez. Hé posted a lot of various tutorial videos. One is with the downtown He's adjusting the valves. Very good stuff!
Don't know about the exciting. But I'd say 99.9â„… chance your gap should be 0.1mm with a cold engine on both the
exhaust and intake valves.

Don't mean to hijack anyone's thread but it seems the original author hasn't replied for quite some time, so I take the initiative hoping it might help someone save some $$ on gaskets.

As a kid I learned from my father how to make a gasket on your own. In certain areas with less heat you can use ordinary hammer paper. (thicker white paper for technical drawings 120-150g or so) elsewhere you'll need proper gasket material that can withstand heat better than paper.

Making a gasket for a cylinder base would be a bit more difficult this way but still doable. I've done it many times on smaller 2T engines. Making gaskets for removable deckings is much easier so I'll base my guide on that. Please note I can't take responsibility for your actions following this guide.

Once you have your decking off (and the old gasket material carefully removed in case it got stuck, (use wood/plastic to scrape off not to damage the aluminum surface)), cleaned you put a small amount of oil around the edges where the new gasket would go. Spread it with your finger evenly then on a flat surface put it on top of the gasket material and leave for a few seconds. If you do it right the oil will leave a perfect silhouette of where you need to cut.

Job done!

Yesterday, it was beautiful weather and I went for a ride to Peak District national park with a friend and his wife.
Photo proof for Stig attached. :)

Prior to that I installed my new st.st. top box mount.
I didn't like the original plate the box came with as it could not fasten the box properly to the scooter.
I didn't like the way it was designed to be mounted on the scooter so I designed another one and had it cut from 3mm stainless, and one of my colleagues welded it all up for me.
Stress test showed plenty strong even with 20kg load in the box. Old one allowed 5kg max. load which is a joke.

Had a new tire valve fitted in the front wheel.

Last Sunday the valve popped in the front wheel of my DT while I was riding.
I was my fault. I noticed some hairline cracks on the valve rubber some weeks ago, and ignore them. Big mistake!

Before it happened I went through two double lane tunnels and was about to continue my journey at about 50mph but had to come off the motorway because a section of it was closed for maintenance. I went over an overpass with an "S" curve at speed and on my way down at the very end of the overpass while I was braking I suddenly lost all air pressure in the front tire. There was no pop or any other audible sound. It was just gone. I could barely ride (fight her) though a roundabout and get off the road into a parking lot about a 100m away. The front of the scooter would go every direction but not straight. Then I waited close to 3 hours for the recovery, but I was grateful for going through this without a scratch neither on myself or on the scooter. It could have been a disaster.
I don't even want to think of what would have happened if it popped while I'm in the tunnels and/or while I'm on the motorway or the overpass at higher speed....
Someone must have been watching over me from above. I consider myself extremely lucky despite the mishap.

Ride safe!
