nsr: content warning for 'Nam vets
« on: September 17, 2026, 01:18:28 PM »

New grocery item seen yesterday.
Nuoc mam is a condiment made of fermented fish (often just heads)
One could smell this sauce from a distance,  just as they could smell our Dial soap from a distance

An olfactory memory.

Brother Larry.....

You can see where brother Bob was packaged nearby!
I was in a restaurant in Germany in the 60s, and the only thing I recognized on the menu was trout, so I ordered that. Then the waiter came,  took me over to the tank and said, which one do you want?
Oh my. I murdered a fish! And I was only 15......
