Daughter c/o poor headlights on her car.



This product cleared the clouded plastic covers on xB.







Pretty simple to use. $17 Home Depot.
Tape, wipe 4X each headlight. Hand wet/sand 3 mins X 2. Wash, dry. Apply sealer.
My daughter was impressed - she says usually when I head out the garage to "launch a missile, or something".....there are problems.
True enough.
But, not this time.

Would this work to clear a scooter screen? Or are they a different kind of plastic?

using toothpaste is supposed to work, never tried it myself

windscreens, I dunno, is it the same plastic, I know I have Lexan on my UTV,  coulda got it in acrylic, not sure what the Givi on my AK550 is

Did several KYMCO Grand Dink/ Dink and XCiting clear plastic screens. Works on faded former SHINY scooter tupperware too.
But have a try on a non too visible spot first.

Toothpaste works only if decoloration/yellowing is very light and not deep.

Yeah - all kinds of kits, and home recipes out there (8 grades of sandpaper, then Clam chowder, etc.)  for clearing headlights -
As you can see - follow simple directions and this stuff works. Enough in the box to do 4 headlights, easy. How long will it last? Who knows - dealer installed new headlights quote @$1,000.00 - but they weren't certain. No one has ever had it done!
@$250.00 for a pr of Chinese parts - and sure, Toyota sources theirs from China, too - but they vet that company for quality.

Some work to install them....so tried this first.

I recon it is the sun causing most of the damage??

nice job on the headlights! Yes, it is the sun's UV rays that yellow the headlights. Cars that live in a garage may never develop the cloudy headlights. It will appear again, quickly, if you don't use a UV protectant / sealer.

I did this to my daughters' Pontiac Vibe..went from cloudy yellow to crystal clear. Used the Turtle Wax kit. Now, 7 months later, after sitting outside all day in the south facing sun, they are yellowing again..

New Chinese headlights are about $130 or $150? Will just re polish the headlights using a different kit next time (hear the Cerakote kit is very good).

Second thought on this subject:
For a scooter windscreen you need two of this sets to get the whole surface properly done. I reglazed a GRAND DINK screen and had to do the inner side too because of microscratches all over.

Don't know exactely anymore, but took me for sure 3 to 4 hours of cleaning, sanding and varnishing.
The result was not 100% for it had very tiny bubbles at the edges ( not really visible, but..)

So, a new aftermarket piece from FACO or GIVI is here from € 85,- to € 115,-
-plus two sets of lens renewer cost around € 40,-
Overall a couple hours of work, IMHO it does not stand for, eben its possibly.
My resume: headlights yes, windscreens no.

It took 13 yrs for her headlights to get like this.
Not knowing what quality headlights we'd get from Alibabba... priced %50 of genuine Scion ( Toyota),  decided to try DIY first. They fog up again, we'll buy Chinese and pop will take a shot at the installation.
This kit is done in under 30mins. You are advised not hand sand more than 3mins each with the two grades of discs.

I used to use toothpaste on the headlights of my Yaris to get it through MOT once a year. It needs reapplying a few times a year. Not sure how it would work on a scooter screen!

Yeah - when in doubt I go to youtube. There discovered my truck's heater-blower motor was a quick fix w/o dismantling the dash!
Some stuff I learn will be more than I want to get into...so don't fiddle wid it.
And, I bought Cerakote after some 'tubes.
