I've gone to the dark side, lol, Yea I really liked the GV250.  But I wanted something bigger, wish I had figured that out before I bought it.  Did not take too much of a beating, lost about a grand.  I only had it for 3 weeks and put 500 miles on it.  I took it back to the dealer I purchased it from and they worked everything out for me, I did get them to throw in a set of saddlebags.  It handles and rides very well.  It is a little intimidating right now, just a month ago, I was scooting around on a 50cc Honda met.

What an idiot I am, after looking over this small problem.  I finally realized that the cover was hitting the oil dip stick, thats why it would only pull out 1/4".  With the dip stick removed, cover comes right off.  Duhhh.   Now got to go pick up some feeler gauges.

ok I am getting ready to do my first 600 mile service.  I was looking over my GV250 at the AC generator cover, (chrome, says kymco)

I know when I gauge the valves with a feeler I have to be at top dead center.  So I need to remove the AC generator cover so I can turn the flywheel. but it does not come off. It turns smooth with just the 3 bolts removed, It will pull out about a 1/4" then it has some drag to it as you turn it. So I am wondering if it was designed that way.

The manual shows the cover removed and a tool inserted to turn the flywheel.  I have a call into Kymco tech support, have to wait till Monday unless someone here knows.  I dont want to take the valve cover off untill I know I can turn the flywheel.

Grandvista 250 / Restrictors
« on: July 26, 2009, 02:20:22 AM »
Do any of you Grandvista 250 owners know if there is any restrictors on these bikes. Exhaust or manifold,  I removed the restrictor from my Honda Mets manifold and it made a big difference.  But it was only a 50cc and I believe they are restricted because a motor cycle endorsment is not needed for scooters that can only go 35mph.

I use premium fuel also, the kymco owners manual says to use 95 octane, the highest I have around here is 93 octane.  Is there higher octane over in tawain?, My owners manual says Grand Dink not vista. So I imagine that the info in the manual is for their region.

I have a 09 Grandvista, so I dont know if there is any difference in design.  Here is how I do mine.

remove the six screws, then on the left side of airbox, there is a brass plate that runs from bottom to top of airbox, just remove the 10mm bolt on the bottom of plate, You do not have to remove the upper one that is behind the panel., Use a long socket or a extension so you dont scratch the variator cover.  Here is some pics.  You also do not have to remove the clamp for the rubber hose, the air box will just hang out of the way so you can remove the screws for the filter.

remove this one

do not remove this one, the plate will come out attached with the air box cover

Note, when you reinstall the air box, make sure the brass plate, (near the top bolt) goes behind the black body frame bar, not in between it, It must go behind it.  Put the air box in on a angle so the brass plate goes in behind the black frame bar.  Look at it before you remove air box and you will see what I mean.

Good luck, hope this helps.
