I prefer modern.
I still remember the times where a 1000km service interval was standard. Not much to do (no valve clearance check on a 2 stroke etc.), but very frequently.
20 years before, a 3000km service interval was already great. An exhaust Made in Italy keeped in shape about 3000km too.
Nowadays I consider nothing with <10000km as adequate. Sorry Kymco, but your 500 & 700cc maintenance is more expensive than comparable BMW or Honda scooters.

In addition, the X500/250 seat is quite tall.
Go to http://cycle-ergo.com/ and try the Xciting 500 (same frame as 250) with her 5' 4".

Ape is Italian for bee. (Vespa means wasp).
You know, a bee is hard-working and profitably.
The Ape series was introduced 1947. Matriarch of all Tuktuks in Asia too.

That's a prototype for an extremely modified Ape TM (the big Ape with 200cc 2-stroke or 400cc Diesel). Never went into production.
Real production for the Ape TM: http://www.auto-motor-und-sport.de/news/minireisemobil-auf-dem-caravan-salon-wohnkabine-fuer-ape-dreirad-2743321.html
Real Ape mobile home with 50cc:

Apes are very popular in Europe, because they really are tough micro truckswhich can maneuver on narrow alleyways.
And, of course, as a likeable media vehicle:

Technical | How To / Re: Simple 2t explanation...

That is simple, but sometimes too simple.
Many new 2t scoots don't need an adapted response exhaust and can even run without any exhaust.

Aircraft engines (yes, exist as 2t too) are even more sophisticated. They may have valves and a wide power band.
Not to mention the 2t diesel with cylinder volumes measuring in cubic meters.

Grand Pic de la Meije, 3982m.
Europe is small, but multifaceted. Take your boat and come over the pond!

Why not having coast and mountains? This is a famous place (Jules Verne & Co) in the calm time of tidal turn.

I had health issues, lost old job, finally found a new one with inferior conditions.
So despite having the time, I rode less than usual.
But I bought my first motorcycle (always had scooters before) and had a nice 4 day trip through the Western Alps. At least I sold my Xciting (and still having a Yager GT 125).

NSA demands all new vehicles to have electronic links for remote control.
I praise Allah for my old vehicles and would rather buy a new Baotian, CFMoto, Dnepr or Enfield ..

BTW: In Europe, Kymcos oil lamp lighting every 2000km (i.e. Yager GT too) is only a reminder for checking oil level.

Imho they don't want to stop the mailing. And perhaps they don't want to tell the address either.
Funny for a high tech state which lurks every communication, even phones of allied presidents.

Sorry to read this.

German authorities don't issue number plates without checked VIN, passport and bank account.
In the periodical vehicle inspection (and sometimes in traffic control) the VIN and insurance is checked again.
Thiefs usually have to sell a vehicle in parts (without frame) or carry them far east, out of EU, because it's only a matter of time...

Your DMV perhaps still doesn't know about the very recent matter.
But probably they will revoke registration and trace down the vehicle?

General Discussion / Re: weather.
« on: November 25, 2014, 09:14:16 PM »
I'm wondering if winter weather has fewer riders thus fewer crashes, or are these numbers based on number of miles/Kilo per accident?
Absolut numbers, not relative to kilometres (this data is only yearly).
May be that there are fewer riders in winter. Maybe vice versa. Prove your claim at court!
Our officers have strict rules of conduct - based on facts. Pull a gun (still not firing) and you will have to generate a document. Shoot a child and you'll be lucky if you get another chance as a doorman. Our citizens know that and don't pull a gun either.
(Some hard core criminals of course ... 7 dead officers in the last 10 years. Sadly enough, but obviously not the major cause of death.)

(Shall we switch the topic to "gun lobby"? Trying to keep the fire burning.  ;D )
