Jasil variator with boss is on the way, would this cdi work if i muff up the wire splice job? I'm so interested in the zx50 i stopped with the ruckus mods a bit. I'm starting to think the ruckus needs to transform into a two stroke

Its not a direct swap for that cdi. The ones for the gy6 are the correct pin style. You can also do what I did and use the old cdi harness part to mate it to that cdi.

Is this still the varistor/ pipe combo to look for?

Did you buy the variator yet?
I live near Colorado Powersports and may buy one for myself.
They sell (sold) the jasil variator on Ebay for $80 shipped, so I might be able to negotiate a lil better to offset the shipping to the UK
pm me if interested.

Well! We've had a drive failure. Turns out we has the wrong sized rollers in the variator. One jammed and caused a bit of a mess. Damaged sliders and the variator drive bush. Another variator was fitted but the bike lost 19 mph worth of speed as a result.
Fortunately we managed to press the (now oval shaped) bush out of the fast variator. a good friend machined me a replacement bush. It took around two hours on the lathe to make the part, but its back together again.
A speed test saw an indicated 63 mph ( down hill of course )

had anyone here current actually run the jasil varistor?  I got the cvt cover off after a battle, then cleaned it only to realize the variator will not fit.  So pissed off with the kymco at the moment that Ive had to walk away

It will clear the gear jagged part of the crankshaft just barely super tight, but won't go beyond that. This is an issue of millimeters, maybe it was made for the earlier kymco?

ya.  They are going to let me return it.  My stock drive boss doesnt look restricted.  Im more bummed about the variator not working than worried about the return.  My scoot is a 2006, maybe this variator is intended for the earlier model

I would have tried your stock boss, inside the new variator.

The jasil works fine with out using the supplied boss and using the stock one. Ive never used the supplied boss because its 4 mm taller i think if I remember right. Polini is a better variator.
