had an hour to start it today. needed the choke to start so thats a good sign i suppose still need to hook it up to a vacuum meter to balance it out. but smells better then before, not much gas smell. will have time later in the week. will post back.
seems the filter was the problem all along.

pulled the plugs, looking good. mixture screw at 1 1/2 out, dark electrode might just be the engine did not warm up totally and just idle. will get it balanced and take a ride like this. and see what the color is after. will post back after the 20th when the full insurance kicks in. see ya all till then.

problem solved! it was the filter all along! carbs balanced and ticking over nicely in idle without galloping, plugs look very good, even in the city so the end setting is mixture screw 1 1/3 out in the front and the rear 2 turns out from fully closed. very happy and will rich up the mixture just a little when it gets hotter and when i am going for long rides.
thank you all and wish you all good riding for the new season!

Great for you Max! Stick around the forum when you have time. You may recognize a problem you can help with... (if your not too busy scootin')
