2 cycle oil
« on: January 21, 2009, 05:33:32 PM »
I recently purchased a 2002 people 50 . I got the owners manual but it does not specify what kind of 2 cycle oil is best . I can not find a source for "kymco" oil . any suggestions for readily available 2 cycle oil would be greatly appreciated . Thanks .

I've read that the synthetic 2 stroke/2 cycle oil is the best for it.  I have been using Walmarts brand of 2 stroke/2 cycle oil for years without any problems.  Any 2 stroke/2 cycle will do.  Buy the gallon container, it will last forever.

I use Amsoil Interceptor (fully synthetic) in my People 50, and on any racing or high performance applications, I use the Amsoil Dominator 2t.  These are excellent quality lubricants.  They'll cost more than the stuff at Wal-Mart, but it's also a better oil.  Less carbon deposits, low smoke etc.

I will have to try that Amsoil Interceptor oil.  Sounds better than the generic stuff.

Any API service rating TB or TC 2-stroke oil should be fine in any 50cc bike. I thought about the WallyWorld oil, but could not find a service rating on it, so I skipped it. Definitely do not want either TA or TD.

Here's a link to a PDF of 2-cycle oil ratings.

Well I changed over to amsoil interceptor oil on my 2002 people 50 2t at 800km . I used a turkey baster to remove the old oil . I hope I didn't switch to synthetic too soon at the low milage but the folks I bought it from said they ran it at idle on a regular basis to keep up the battery and such . I noticed a smoother and slightly faster idle , also less smoke and smell . It also has even more power . I really love this scooter so far . I continue to be impressed with the quality and ride and I hope it will be as reliable as my old honda metropolitan . So far so good .

I just purchased some Yamalube 2R High Performance oil (damn thats stuffs gotten expensive) to use in my Super9. I have used Honda and Yamaha oils in the past in my 2 stroke mx'rs with no probs.
