Crank case cover removal...its stuck
« on: May 21, 2011, 05:04:35 PM »
I removed the 8 bolts holding the crank case cover on. I need to check the belt and cluch. I cant seem to break it free. I have hit it with a dead blow hammer and dont see anything else holding it on.  What am I missing? ???

Whats the secret for taking it off. It cant be that hard.

thanks

Tad

Are you talking about the transmission cover or crank case cover? :) If transmission, about 10 bolts on mine plus remove air intake pipe, don't hit it!

It was the cover over the belt and clutch. I also took the air filter off to clean it. I got it off,...just used a bigger hammer.  FYI you do not have to remove the kick starter. The belt looked like new at 5500km. I just blew all the dust out.

Good to hear you got it off, did you measure it? may look good but only needs slight wear before slipping, depends how you ride?

I should have measured it. Do you have the wear specs handy? ???.

I ride it like I stoled it. Most riding near 40mph.

Also, everybody, dont forget to torque the bolts after assembly. I put all 8 back, finger tight, with the intention of torquing to spec after I got all 8 in. I forgot until after my test ride. I also used low strength loctite when puting the bolts back.

Hi Jesionowski, there is another thread about size of belt http://www.kymcoforum.com/index.php?topic=1493.0, mines a r16 which is a longer belt than Agility. The manuals i've read are very confusing so measuring is best way to cross reference
