On the eratic speedo also just an interesting observation!
I was caught in a hell of a storm and it was raining hard for approx 200km i also noticed my speedo doing the same thing!
So obviously the water caused a short!!
When the bike was dry it was fine again!

So after my last post almost 2 months ago.  Only one morning
did the speedometer fail to read starting out in the morning,
but then started after a mile or two.   Unless the Sensor gets
hit,  or is not tightened there isn't too much that can go wrong with it.

However,  The face of my sensor does look like it's rubbed against
the disk.  This was very likely because the original gap was wrong
but I didn't fix that one.  The gap has quite a wide tolerance.

Now for that cable connection.  It appears that it's not watertight
and can allow for some corrosion barrier to set-up.  All I did
was disconnect and reconnect and that was enough to scrape
the terminals and allow the current to flow.  May try a Lithium
based grease that is used on auto connections if there's any
other trouble.

The worst issue is that odometer may stop also and then messes
your oil change schedule.

Had a similar problem and the dealer found a wire broken in the harness that goes from the sensor to the speedo.  It had been pinched during assembly.  They replaced the sensor (sensor and harness are all together) and have not had problem since.

Hey Guile...Can you give Urbestfriend your latest update
on the job you did on your connection.  After 3 or 4 months,
mine has started acting up again just like it did before.
