NSR, island hopping in Croatia 10/2026
« on: October 05, 2026, 12:14:57 PM »
Did it again, my fall island hopping on croatian side.
Since I went together with a friend of mine I took the beemer to keep up with that young "whippersnapper" as Neil would say.
Took us  a week to see islands of Krk, Cres and Rab. Ferryspace is always available for motorcycles, so you need no reservation.

Usually I am not that adventureous but at a certain lovely spot I thought to ride down a gravel road, which proved to be pretty steep at situ. I was regretting immedeately my decision to follow this wash but it was already too late to turn around. My beemer 1100 is about 270 kgs loaded and not really an offroader, so I sweated profundely until we reached the base.

No pics of me emberassed picking up the beemer. Fortunately only hurt pride, side boxes took the brunt.

..on our way we met a guy from Cech Republik who rode such an island tour on a 1937 MotoGuzzi "NORMALE 500", actually a museum piece but he got street items like head- and brakelight on it and off he went (for this the additional battery aside).

Beautiful nature (except gravel roads) fair weather and outstanding food.
Other vehicles (not mine) were not that old but rather impressive too...

..some more..
..and yes, one might say it looks all the same, but you arrive after a ferry trip, sit down for whatever you fancy and just inhale your personal choice of freedom.

Croatia could be know as “the country of blue” based on your pics.
No fuel rationing or shortages?
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

Indeed it is the country "blue" skies and sea.
We pay a bit more here in Europe for fuel because of higher taxes, its okay,  but we hadn't and will not have any rationing or shortages.
