2011 Super 8 2T Questions
« on: September 24, 2026, 01:02:38 AM »
I’ve been trying to find the answers to a couple questions I have. I just picked up a 2011 Super 8 2t with 2500 miles. The variator boss has been removed and I added three 9 gram and 8 gram weights. And it’s only topping out at around 29. Is there a restriction on the CDI? Should I up the jet in the carb? Or what else to do to get some more speed out of it? I know it’s all I the forum but I’m very computer illiterate 🫤

few questions back at you...you removed the variator boss, did you replace it?? You added 3 9 gram and 8 gram weights....can you explain more? Did you replace existing rollers? What was the weight of the originals?  Why did you choose those weights?

Lastly, how much faster do you think the scoot should go? 29 mph out of a 49cc isn't terrible.

are your tires correctly inflated? Air cleaner clean? New spark plug?

I'm no expert on these 50's - but it was my understanding the 2T was early always faster than the 4T?

I agree that there should be another 4,5,or 6 more MPH in that scooter - except that it is 15 yrs old!
So maybe 29 isn't too bad for an aging 50?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I removed the boss from the variator. Removed the original weights 8grams and installed 8.5&9 grams. Air cleaner is clean and good condition. Tires are at right psi. I would think 35 wouldn’t be unexpected. I had a super9 LC that would hit almost 40 gps with just different weights and a different carb jet.

did you run it on the original weight rollers to get an initial top speed? Did the new rollers help or hurt the top speed? What condition is the belt in? A worn belt can sap a few mph from you.

Have you played around with increasing the main jet size?
