Memorial Day and a scooter ride

Memorial Day is a federal holiday to commemorate military personnel who died from wounds while serving in the Armed Forces.
My generation's war was Vietnam, and our involvement lasted about 8 years.
All of Vietnam was considered a combat zone - therefore all those who served received a bonus of $65 for Hostile Fire Pay, regardless of their rank, job description or direct exposure to gunfire.

Each of these fellows received that extra $65.





I took the LIKE200i out for a ride at dawn today. At 30mph on empty rural roads, I'd time to think about a certain 12mos, nearly 60 yrs ago.
(it has been some time since started - and once again the scoot fired instantly - LIKE200i owners know what i mean)






After coffee from Dino's i went deer hunting. "No Joy."

Couple of weeks.
The condo we rent is across one dune to the shore


5 stories, with pool, and miles of sugar sand.

We've learned to give the beach to the tourists and locals who are crazy enough to go into the mid-day sun. We go at sunrise and sunset. Visit St Petersburg and Clearwater during the mid-day.

The year my daughter blew her knee out 3 days before we went to Florida. (soccer) Surgery as soon as we arrived home. (she injured the same knee 3 times, 3 surgeries)


I just cannot get over the greenery!
We're looking forward to it - AND I get to get another pup when we get home! (lost my pup Xmas night)

A couple of tabs have let go in the panel around the handlebars (sub-freezing rides?) - and my repeated scuba riding finally locked up my front brake pistons - other than that is still a solid little scooter!
It has never left me stranded! I've never had to push it home.
I still think the LIKE200i and the Agility, the People and the Xciting 300's are the bullet proof models which push Kymco's reputation for reliability.

BTW: read today that Major Bruce Crandall passed away a few days ago. In 1965, under the call sign of "Snake", he famously flew his unarmed Huey, repeatedly, into LZ X-ray in the (Battle of) Ia Drang. to resupply, and evacuate wounded. He. and his wing-man, "Too-Tall" Freeman were both awarded the Medal of Honor - decades later! (actions depicted in the film, We Were Soldiers)
