Kymco Downtown 300i 2012 Engine Knocking Noises
« on: February 26, 2026, 11:18:13 PM »
I'm currently quite desperate about the noises coming from my engine.

The scooter came to me from its first owner, a retiree. Unfortunately, it was mostly used for short trips and did not have an oil change for six years, with a total mileage of only about 5,000 km :/

I recently bought it and I'm generally satisfied, but I really don't like these rattling/clacking noises when I accelerate and when I let off the throttle.

can you isolate where the noise is coming from?  Hard to tell from the video.

What did the dip-stick show the first time you looked at it?
Are you familiar with scooters?- and with the various weird noises that come from even a healthy CVT?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Welcome here!
This "whirring" sound irritates me a bit, don't go for a ride until the culprit is found.

I would do as follows:
-change oil, fiil it up
-underseat tray out
-open CVT, start engine, locate noise
-cylinder head/ valves adjust at 0.10mm both

? does now what?
? same noise or less or somewhere else?
Pls come back for Qs!
