I thought something finally quit working on my 9yr old Piaggio!
« on: January 10, 2026, 02:02:28 AM »
And I was bummed!

I filled at BP during my last visit to Y.S.
On the ride home I noticed the gauge was still reading full.
And today, riding in the rain - all the bars were still showing on the gauge!
"Well - something finally stopped working. This scooter has been flawless since e 2017. I'll just fill from my can before leaving home."
Nope ....it was down a bar when I arrived this morning!
I was miss-reading it in the rain.

BTW - what are you paying?

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

£1.469 for a litre of diesel and about £1.379* for a litre of petrol (gasoline).

* That's for the low octane stuff 95 RON (E10).  For my scooter & bike I use the super unleaded 99 RON (E5) which last refill was £1.439 p/l

Without getting too political Randy, the main reason for the high price is tax.  For the last 50 years successive Governments here have seen motorists as a useful cash cow!

in NH where I live, between state & federal tax, totals 48¢/gallon, the offroad diesel I get is tax free, it's dyed, don't want to get caught using it on the street. I'm understanding in Texas, gas is under $2, lower state tax, and less transportation cost. Most of the petroleum fuels I buy here in Northern New England come thru the Irving refinery in St John New Brunswick

Same here.  Farming disel is dyed red and has a much lower rate of tax :)
