front brake locked on my LIKE200iLX

Tried to move it the other day to get the Liberty out of the garage and found the LIKE's front brake 90% locked.
Had this scoot since new, 2013 - and this is the 3rd issue I've had with it over the years.
#1) 2014 - TPR failed, throttle body replaced under warranty.
#2) @2018 - little spring in the clutch let go - leaving the clutch slightly engaged at idle.

Neither of these issues kept me from returning home. So, never stranded.

#3) Nov 2025 - brake piston seized? or...something going on with the fluid change I did recently? (I rode it afterwards - no problems - but then sat for a month)
In any event - far too cold to try opening the headset plastic panels to get at the brake fluid reservoir. Actually - too cold to mess with it, period. Caliper is easy enough to remove, but need a warmer day. So, spring?

In the winter I do little more than gas my scooters, check tires or do a simple oil R&R.
I do not ride the scooter on a wet salty road, but I will ride it on roads showing dry, powdery salt. Then I give it a thorough rinse & dry with a garden sprayer & hot water when I get home.

If the issue is not in my brake fluid R&R - I'll likely purchase a new caliper assembly for $100. This scoot hasn't required much in the way of parts over the years. Tires, oil and gas; one clutch assembly. Even the brake pads refuse to wear much! All lights are orig.

master cylinder problem (plugged return hole)

one source said could be result of air pocket in line after bleeding (?)

It will be warm again before you know it...there are some easy checks to do before replacing caliper...

When the front brakes weren't working on my Nighthawk my brake lever would barely move. When I cracked the bleeder and squeezed the lever it moved effortlessly. The pistons were seized in the bores.

It's got me puzzled Hawk.
A dragging piston, maybe - but today this thing is locked like the system is under a lot of pressure. It's more than dragging.

An air bubble is compressible....and water in the line? - that could expand in this cold, sure. But, I just replaced it with new fluid. And the scooter was driven at least once, maybe twice. But the temps were above freezing on those days.
But now it's very cold here. Can't see how cold could lock the piston ....unless I DID I get water in the line?!

I can't bleed the brakes because I'd break the plastic getting to the reservoir.
I think it is supposed to be 40 tomorrow - I might try to heat the caliper with a hair dryer and crack
 the bleed nipple with a rubber band around the lever.

I'll know more when I can look at the action of the lever behind the plastic, and look at the return port in the reservoir.

Certainly open to any suggestions!

I was looking at a few youtube vids today of diagnosing a stuck caliper or bad brake hose..most were first building pressure in the line by pumping up the brake...then carefully crack the bleeder...if more than just a few dribbles came out it may indicate pressure built up in the line. After cracking try to spin the wheel...if it spins easily you likely have a bad hose. If it still doesn't spin you probably have something stuck in the caliper (piston or slide pin).

I looked but couldn't find a great video by the Car Wizard on youtube...he went through the full diagnosis process looking first at caliper, then brake hose and finally master. In his example it was the master.

Others pulled the caliper off and tried to push the piston(s) back. If they wouldn't easily push back they'd crack the bleeder and try again. If it easily went back it was the hose.

Have you disassembed your caliper in the past few years to clean it up and lube the slide pins?

One brake caliper = somehow logically explainable .

Moto Guzzi with Integral Brake System is asking for individuel treatment on its three calipers and fluid reservoirs,

AND there is no logic behind WHY it works after hours of unsuccessful bleeding and floods of brake fluid wasted.

Ruffus, I must have missed this when posted originally. I have found bleeding brakes is either an easy, satisfying process.... frustrating process...not much in between.

Stig, the weather is better...any update on your sticking front caliper?
