almost lost our coffee shop downtown
« on: December 02, 2025, 02:01:27 PM »

Winan's Coffee has been in the Tudor style shop across the street for a few years. A few doors down is a Euro style pastry shop. (good luck trying to find a simple donut in that place :)
Recently Winan's closed its doors! They sold coffee and expensive pieces of candy. I never saw anyone buy a piece of candy from their 15' long display case.

Scout's Cafe' moved into the old Winan's Coffee & Candy shop.
Coffee and pastry now still available for al fresco-ing in this great area in downtown Springfield!

This is genuinely a boost to the morale of a lot of Springfielder's! Good news is rare in this city since the events of (non-events, really) last year.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

great to keep a nice, local downtown business going. I love that there is always an entrepreneur ready to take a risk with a restaurant / coffee shop / bar. I can't imagine the stress of paying salaries, rent and insurance while hoping to sell enough food or drink to cover costs and hopefully make a profit.

Looks like a nice area.
