Installing larger battery and/or reset TPS in LIKE200i
« on: August 04, 2025, 10:11:03 PM »
I installed my new YUASA battery today.
3 screws then pop the cover.

The 8Ah and 9Ah (175CCA) batteries which are stock in the LIKE200i can be replaced by a 12Ah or even a 14Ah YUASA battery by making one easy adjustment.
The 12/14Ah YUASA batteries are @5mm taller than the stock 8/9Ah batteries. All other dimensions are the same....except for the weight. I've run a heavier 14Ah battery in there for years w/o a problem.

I trimmed 5mm off of the posts under the batter compartment lid.

found the battery connections clean in there today.
Remove Negative First -  then the pos. leads. Replace in the reverse order - Positive First, then the Negative.

Dielectric grease on all the connections.

Positive (RED) leads first.... then the negative/ground (GREEN).
I use some foam rubber to reduce rattling - LIKE's are not the smoothest riders! Black wire is the (fused) battery tender.

The throttle position sensor (TPS) and idle air bypass valve (ISC) have to be reset when throttle body, MAP, TPS, ISC or ECU have been reinstalled.

The wire seen here with the green collar is the one we use to do the reset.....
The larger black socket is to connect the KYMCO Diagnostic tool.

1. Turn off the vehicle, then turn the key to the ON position (do not start the engine).

2. Using a test probe or wire jumper, short the TPS/ISC reset wire (pink) to the battery negative or a vehicle ground.

3. Turn key switch to the OFF position and remove the jumper. Do not leave the TPS/ISC reset wire grounded to the frame, and do not remove the plastic insulator on the end of the wire.

PS: I like the little tab "walls" YUASA uses in there to keep the nut from falling out! No more chasing down that nut with a magnet stick!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

hello, I need to reset TPS on my AK550 too, because diagnostic says it is out of calibration and the engine light is really annoying.
Could you give me a more detailed guide how to do this? I don't have a diagnostic tool to do this so this guide may be the perfect solution for me.

thanks

Same procedure as at any onecylinder Kymco, pls see pic..

Except the YELLOW sealed inbus screw has been opened, TPS moved, tighened again.
Then you need either a Kymco Diagtool or a new TPS assy.
