Why "Yellow Springs"?
Y.S., Ohio, is named after the distinctive waters of this natural spring in the nearby Glen Helen Nature Preserve.
Iron rich - potable water, probably
A wealthy comedian (Dave Chappelle) lives nearby and underwrites several of the smaller businesses, hosts open-air shows on a nearby farm, just opened a comedy/dinner/club in the old fire station, and built a new structure next to Dino's. Friendly guy - (wife, daughter and I, each, have passed a few words with him on occasion) he moved here for the privacy. Parks his G-Wagen for his coffee (at Dino's) and lunches at the Current Cuisine.
Not long ago he brought Bradely Cooper to town to premier "A Star Is Born" in the small theater in town. Humorous stories of 2 ladies getting coffee in Dino's when they realized Bradely was in line behind them
David Letterman was in town to interview Dave - had coffee from Dino's and then Letterman had a taste of the yellow springs.
I discovered that The Daily Mail, a tabloid in the U.K., had written a piece about Yellow Springs. One photo they printed shows my daughter's car parked in front of the Group W Bench. We were in town for lunch.
And then there was Captain Jack Sparrow.
In town for a street fair in Yellow Springs.
My daughter said he gave her rump a little squeeze after the selfie - so - she's pretty sure it was really Jack!
