Have you? (Be honest.)
« on: June 21, 2025, 11:49:48 AM »
So come on, how many ride a scooter over the winter months, only to have to relearn riding the “proper” bike in the Spring?  Anyone else lunged for the clutch lever on that first overly fast approach to a bend?  😱. 🤣
Regards & ride safe,
Neil

every time I ride my Helix my left hand is grasping for a non existent lever. Since it has a foot operated rear brake and no clutch there is nothing on the left grip...other than the rubber grip! A buddy rode my Helix, recently, and said his mind was blown at the complete lack of a lever on the left side.

So yes, a slight (re) learning curve when switching between bikes.

Aaah, the last time I owned a motorcycle (Honda CB350) and rode it was the night before I deployed to Vietnam Feb 1969.
I got stupid - and rode it WOT from San Antonio towards Austin, until I calmed down, bought gas and rode back to my 19yr old wife.
So, no. Never find myself grabbing for anything but something to wipe my nose with.
Interesting post & observation for you bike owners.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I ride in the winter, my V-strom is set up to ride in about anything, snow, sleet, freezing rain, studded big block knobby in front. the darkside in back with a winter car tire, rubber actually designed for cold pavement, tread and sipes designed to evacuate slush, and heavier than a MC tire to buffer the application of power(harder to spin up)

I find I can go back and forth between my AK550, K-pipe & V-strom seamlessly, even my SV if it were still on the road, set up with GP (1up 5 down) shifting
