sign it needs a valve check, or?
« on: June 09, 2025, 12:54:20 PM »
Hopped on my Piaggio yesterday at dawn for a coffee ride.
"Hey!!..."
It took 4 tries to start! It hasn't done that since I first started it after the unboxing 8 years ago!
It has been close to 6,000 miles since the last valve check. This is the interval specified by the owner's manual.
Gave it some throttle (usually a no-no with EFI ) and it fired up.
Perhaps it had something to do with sitting nearly out of gas, unused, for 39 days?
It ran fine the rest of the day.
(I'll put the service on my schedule)

tried it again first thing this morning - fired right up as usual
*this scooter has been rock-solid perfect for 8 years - and the LIKE200i has been, too, since the TPS was replaced under warranty 11 years ago.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Low fuel level, guess gas culprit.
Happy and safe scootering, Ruffus

Been running perfectly since that day.
When the temps in the garage cool down a bit I'll do the valves, look at the airfilter and maybe put in a new NGK iridium.
I know it's overkill - but I always use a Top Tier fuel and from the prem. pump - Usually SHELL 93.
Costs more - but this thing just sips gas.....esp. at 34MPH~!
