Memorial Day
« on: May 26, 2025, 02:25:52 PM »
A day to remember all those who didn't make it home.

Knowing this was my last flight, I went back out and snapped this photo with an Instamatic camera (plastic,@$3 ) of our Huey parked in the revetment.

Also, being a bit under the weather - this is the first Mem. W/E in ages that I haven't been out on my scooter.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

Our city of Springfield ( mentioned so often by Trump and Vance) has for years held one of Ohio's largest Memorial Day parades.
1.5 miles through town - ending at a veteran's park.

Decades ago I marched in this parade a couple of yrs with a chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
Because I went to church - they made me the Medic and the Chaplain!
It was the last time I was in uniform - and, being a conchy - except for a couple of times in 'Nam, were the only times I touched an M-16. (they wouldn't let me march with just a cup of coffee - so I had to shoulder a rifle)
