When I was a kid in Florida - we happened to buy a modest house near a school where a lot of kids from wealthy families attended.
(I remember one girl who arrived in a black Cadilac - and I doubt that was her father in his livery!)

Many of the boys rode Lambrettas to school.
Memory is vague - pretty sure they were slab-sided, raspy/smokey 2 stroke  Lambrettas, and not the bubble butt Vespas.
They wrecked 'em frequently in the parking lot. Doing wheelies for the girls.

That new Lambretta seems heavy at 380 lbs. -(135lbs heavier than a LIKE200i) but maybe the same as a metal Vespa.
The scooter looks small with those giant girls....but it is one inch longer than a LIKE200i, with an extra 3" of wheelbase.

I noted straight away that those were Pirelli Angels - nice to see them issue them with good tires. Vespa has been using Michelin City Grips for years.

And I would certainly put up a scooter made in Taiwan against any Vespa, IF they've been properly engineered! (many Vespas are made in Vietnam, right along side my Liberty)
after seeing the quality coming out of Taiwan - I think of them as the new Japan for quality.

Wonder how the prices compare?

PS: the Kymco DTX 320 costs only 300 more than the 125?!
Why would anyone buy the 125? I'll lend them the xtra!

All the write-ups and road tests of the Sym brand I read here have been positive?  As you say, competitively priced at £2K+ less than the AK550! (Now a local dealer stocks both Kymco & Sym, that might be a worthwhile enquiry?...)

I see the new iteration is not so slab sided as the 60's versions I recall - and still see lovingly restored versions of locally!  But yes, the originals were smokey 2T engined, usually 200cc and dressed to the nines, think Quadrophenia.

Well, not these very entitled kids. They were trashing stock lambrettas. My brother and I dreamed of Bridges and Stratton mini bikes.  And our dreams never were full fil
