my daughter bartered some carpentry for a nice Burgman 400

2008, 7005 miles - one senior owner.
His widow hired my daughter's crew to do some work on her house. Daughter spotted this Burgman stored away on the property and asked me what it might be worth.
She and her son ride dirt bikes - but never a scooter.
Daughter gathered some info - and put a battery charger on it - since it hadn't been ridden in a while.
Scoot fired right up and runs great she said.

I gave her my thoughts - she did a deal - took the scooter in partial payment for some new construction on the woman's house.
They cleaned it up - and she sent me a video of my 15 yr old grandson riding it yesterday!

She told me not to worry - he has years of experience riding dirt bikes.
She also told me I can borrow it any time.

They don't live far from Yellow Springs - I might just swing by early one morning and park my Kymco and ride for coffee on this Burgman.
I very much liked my 2014 Burgman 400 - found it to be a great riding scooter - smooth riding and smooth drive train, great headlights for night riding. Suzuki had these Burgman 400's well sorted!
Just more scooter than I required.

good deal, I have done quite a bit of barter with my local dealer, mostly for shop time, but one job got us 2 used low mile ATVs, (one Polaris and one Yamaha) and my Kymco UXV450i, new, Ten years ago this year, the 450i is a beast, bought a real tractor last summer, so the UTV is now just a fuel dispenser & equipment carrier, no more yanking logs, or plowing snow

I went out this morning looking in my spares drawers - all I found for the Burgman 400 was an airfilter and a Haynes serv./repair manual.
I gave a belt and some oil filters to the new owner of my 400 when I sold it. I put them under the seat before it was trucked to Oregon.
The lady said her husband had it regularly serviced by the dealer. Oil changes every riding season.
Daughter and her boyfriend know bikes - they'll check the coolant, tires and brake fluid level.
If it ever needs a belt and rollers - I have the tools and experience to do that.
Youtube has good info - often easier to understand than a paper manual - especially better than the dark pics in the Haynes manual!!
I do want the boy to get properly geared up. He's 1/3 my size - so my helmets etc. won't fit.
Actually - Ohio helmet law applies to riders his age. Plus he'll need to get 2 wheel licensed.
