Anti Seize on Bolts?

I removed the exhaust yesterday and the upper bolt attaching it to the frame was way too hard to get off. It looked ok but I'm concerned for the future of taking it off and on. Is putting some anti seize on it next time a good idea? Is there a better option?

Heres a great video. Grease works great, looks like permatex is best for anti seize but all the products tested had their strong points. He fills up a lawn mower crankcase with aluminum based anti seize to check for seize. grease is adequate I think for your problem. pull out your dipstick and dab it on the bolt.

Never had an issue using coppaslip, the copper based grease.

Copper paste or white ceramic mounting paste.

Works well but be careful with torque. Torque limits are reduced due to the lubrication. MUCH EASIER to strip threads especially in aluminum.

FYI, from what I'm reading it doesn't look like a good idea to use copper anti seize on aluminum.

The exhaust studs are steel, and the exhaust acorn nuts are bronze.  Anti-seize is essential since the exhaust attach is "red hot" under the floor, in the rain and mud.

Not all of those acorns are bronze...also, he's talking about muffler to frame mounting bolt -- not exhaust studs.

Go with what CROSSBOLT writes.
To avoid corrosion and torque trouble use ceramic mounting paste on such places.

In certain conditions (alu/ salty road or seasides) I saw coperpaste contraproductive on aluminium (the purer alu the more electrical eating off) parts.

Good idea! You'll find copper anti-seize works just fine.  However you won't be able to remove the exhaust without also removing the acorn nuts. Regardless, a little reading on the topic is always useful, and I always encourage it.
