LUMBAR SUPPORT REMOVAL - AK 550
« on: May 22, 2022, 12:45:22 PM »
Just rode my new AK 550 home yesterday....what a Beast!....Can the lumbar support on the seat be removed? Right after I got home we had to go to a party and so this morning I wanted to ask this here. Have not gone outside to look at it or get busy setting up the Noodoe screens to my liking. Raining here also....
I want to remove the lumbar support thing on the seat....

Have you adjusted the back support all the way back? I found the stock location is somewhere in the middle of the range. When I adjusted mine I moved it back and then banged on the bumper to move it back just a little bit more to lock it in the farthest back location.

Yes, the bum bumper can be removed. Open the seat. Look at the 2 rods that can be seen for the support. There are 2 set screws in the left side rod (just looked on mine). Remove those set screws and the bumper should slide out while sliding and holding the lock lever to the left.

Wow!….I removed the butt bumper and now my legs can be straight out in front of me with pretty much no bend in the knee like those big cruiser bikes! Happy Camper!
