Big bore kit carb rejet.
« on: June 14, 2021, 10:51:47 AM »
Hi all. I have just bought a Super 8 125cc. non runner. It has hardly any compression so have ordered a 150 big bore kit. I assume I will have to rejet the carb. What size should I go for?  Also can I fit kit without removing engine? Thanks in advance.

It will run OK with the stock jets, and you can slowly up-jet one step at a time after you've got it running. For example, if the main jet is a 95, step up to a 97, and then 100.  Don't jump up too many sizes.  The stock jet will be fairly close.  Then you can do the same with the pilot (idle) jet.  Don't change both jets at the same time.

Yes you can install the BBK without removing the engine.  You just need to remove all the plastic fairings near the front of the engine, and the exhaust system.  You might want to install a race cam while everything's apart. They make a noticeable difference in power. Only about $30. There's some excellent YouTube videos that will show you how to do it.

Many thanks for your reply. Very helpful. Thanks again.
By the way how will I know if I’ve “over jetted “ it?

sorrry, i know this thread is 3 weeks old....but when trying to find out the correct jet size you can always look up the service manual for the 150cc Kymco motor and see what jets came from the factory.

Here's a page from my manual, which lists People S50, 125 and 200 (really 163cc)
2010 People S200 - sold after 8 wonderful years!
2014 Ninja 300
1996 Honda Helix
1984 Honda Nighthawk 650 - work in progress

It will be sluggish and stumble when trying to accelerate.
