Maybe quiting
« on: April 10, 2021, 02:20:36 PM »
I will be 82 in May---66 years of riding, over 1.5 million miles, 15-20 countries, all weathers, over 75 new bikes/scooters....maybe time to quit while I am ahead---my 2019 XTown 300i i for sale.   Takes a lot for old farts to ride scooter safely....with no tank to grip, pegs to stand on and....never ride anything you cannot pick up alone.

If there is another bike, it will be a motorcycle---250-400cc US market, centerstand, interchangeable wheels, full chaincase, strong luggage rack/racks, perfect windshield, valve adjustment without shims!---Nationwide dealer ships, big gas tank, reg key!   Probably will not happen or be available-----Only ride I would like to repeat is Hyder AK thru Canada, Rockies pretty in summer, 2014 I rode to 49 states in one season (TU250 and Burgman 400) so no need there.  Miss Europe riding, lived/rode there over 20 years, same about Japan....like the food...wide variety of bikes on the market there.----I bought new car a couple of months ago, like Heater/AC/radio,,, not having to dress up,ear plugs=nice.

So many India run cheaper motels now---usually not so clean and mold! so not so fun.

Stay tuned.

as a 54 year old I love the fact that plenty of you guys are still riding into your 80's! That gives me hope that I can have another 30 years of riding, since I started late in life  (only 5 years ago).

Good luck, John, in whatever decision you end up making.

I'll be 84 in September and the GV 250 is the perfect bike for my weakening muscles: light enough, fast enough, very maneuverable and riding it is the most fun I have with my clothes on...or off these days.

Well, John, that's entirely your decision. Will be sorry to see you go if you bail out of here. Genuine Scooter has a 400 cc thumper dual sport that looks VERY INTERESTING for about 5k USD if you go that way. Me, at 80, me gonna ride some more. The DT300i will probably be my last ride!
