..cdi trials..
« on: October 18, 2010, 11:06:18 PM »
..so, knowing that the 2001 was much faster than the 2007, i wanted to swap cdis, to see what difference it would make in the performance of the 07..

..the 01 cdi in the 07 made the scoot accelerate much quicker, idle was smoother and it started easier...all repeatedly.....

..however, it ran 5 mph slower on top speed??...repeatedly...

..th' pics below are of the two cdi units..

..the 01 is first, then the 07...

Hmm...at first glance they looked to be the same part #. Zombie posted links (somerwhere) for that Suitai company. Their web site might give info on the D411. I'm not sure if the TYC-D421 is the same company though. Do you know? TYC might be a company name or part of a part#... :-\

..i'm pretty sure that suitai and tyc are two different entities..

..also assuming that D411 and D421 are different builds, or profiles, if you will, of cdi programming...

Hey, wordslinger...looks like you got the same CDI as Shaka on that TYC one. Check here about halfway down the page:

That's strange!  Mine has the # TYC-D421 on the front of it.  It has 6 wires

...however, the ppl has only 4 wires...

Maybe someone tried to swap one out for one they could derestrict?

But...if the '01 was less restricted then why would it allow faster acceleration but not gain as much speed?

This is odd all the way around, lol.

..yes it is...

..i bet that if i swap the pipe AND the cdi, and increase my jet, then the 07 will perform closer to what the 01 did...

That could be interesting. It's nice to have a spare, isn't it? You can try out all kinds of things now.
