Fall colors in Tennessee
« on: October 30, 2020, 01:14:01 AM »
last week I spent 5 days riding in the Tennessee mountains.  I wasn't on my scooter but I thought I'd share some of the colors I saw.

All of these pictures were taken within 20 miles of Tellico Plains TN.

Grew up in New England and don't remember reds that vivid.
Any idea if this is a typical year for foliage in Tennessee?  Or one especially good?
2014 BV 350  "IndiGO" (fast, strong and tireless)
2006 Honda Rebel 250  "Snow Leopard" (stealthy, agile and durable)
2018 Lance Cali Classic 200i  "Black Panther" (smooth, nimble, quiet and quick)
2016 Wolf V-50 (sold)

Wanted a Kymco, ended up w a Lance, but that forum is inactive, so I am here

I think the colors were exceptionally good during this time.  I don't remember ever getting so many good pics of the colors.

Spent a week in Spencer back in July (without 2 wheels :().  Thought the hilly, tree covered landscape would make good fall foliage material, but have never heard it mentioned or promoted as such.  Almost as good as New England, probably w far less traffic.

According to a popular genealogy website, I may have fairly close relations in Tennessee. It looks lovely.

There was another poster from the same state that used to post on here. A really nice guy. Wonder why he stopped posting.....hope he's ok.

Great photos Klav! What camera setup do you use for the riding shots? I come across so many scenes I would love to freeze a frame from as there is rarely time or space to safely stop for a pictures. Ive been in Tellico working on a rental property this month.

He takes many pictures on the move! Has a neck lanyard for his hand-held camera! He is a master at this! (I would crash/burn/whine/die if I tried that!)

So that's how! Time to bring out the old Nikon. Although, I think it has to slow a frame rate for anything crisp.

I use an Olympus TG5.  As Crossbolt mentioned I have it hanging from a lanyard around my neck.  It is Waterproof and shock resistant.  It also captures colors better than any digital camera I have owned.  I can take pics while riding.  I grab it with my left hand, turn it on, point and shoot.  I don't look at the view screen while riding, I keep my eyes on the road.   I get a lot of pics this way that I otherwise wouldn't get.  Even when I stop it's a lot quicker and more convenient that a phone camera is because its right there and ready to use.

The hardest shots to get are over the shoulder shots of the riders behind me.  Most of those used to be junk but I have gotten much better with practice.  Since I normally lead the group rides I go on, I have been taking a lot of over the shoulder shots.

Here's a pic taken while riding.

One taken over the shoulder to get bikes in the pic.
