The one that got away...
« on: October 28, 2020, 07:59:46 AM »
With acknowledgement to the Triumph forum where I saw this question:  Anyone who has been a longtime motorcycle rider has at least one bike (s)he regrets selling/trading in/giving away.

Mine was a Kawasaki ZX-7R in racing green with purple wheels. A visceral power delivery and brakes & handling I’d never before experienced. Sadly it got totalled and I still miss it.

How about you, with photos if possible?

My Yamaha RD250LC was the most fun I've ever had on a motorbike. Not a particularly high top speed, but the way it got there was infectious (maybe the wrong word to use these days!)

And soooo easy to work on / modify etc.

Was that back in the day when you could still go up to 250cc on an L plate?  Scary thought!

I had a full licence by then, but that wasn't any kind of certificate of sanity. Quite the opposite in fact!

New 2014 NSS Forza 300, Honda. Along with the Yamaha Majesty - the last of the sleek & fluid Maxis' in the USA, sadly.
Blackened stock screen, CB500X mirrors, adj. levers.
Smooth and fast enough for me....letting me explore further from home on higher speed roads.
My 2nd scooter after owning 2012 LIKE200i. (5th or 6th Honda 2 wheeler going back to the 60's)
Rode it for 2 yrs before mistakenly moving up to a NOS Burgman 400.
Bought a set of valve shims - but never got to use them!

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

I have 2. My 2009 Kymco Xciting 250 and My new in 2016 , 2014 Yamaha Majesty. Owned it exactly 1 month before I totaled it along with my lower left leg. The Kymco because it simply was my first and introduced me to scootering and to you all. And I’m sentimental like that. And if I hadn’t traded it for the majesty, I probably wouldn’t have driven the distance that allowed me to wreck the majesty and hurt myself [emoji23][emoji23]

That Majesty. Man I loved it. I’d head home from work and simply keep going. In ONE MONTH I put 3,000 miles on it. It’s destruction ended (temporarily, I hope) a way of life that I’d thoroughly begun to enjoy.

Now I’m not surprised, not one little bit, that the lady in red was your one big regret Tom. Somehow feel there could still be a Forza somewhere in your future...
