I see Kymco is showing AK 550 as available in US.  Hope engine is solid mounted like SilverWing 600, final drive appears to be open belt, like TMAX ended up with.   No electric windshield?

The end price of $10,000 out the door is kinda scary, about the same as SilverWings when they were new....did over 90,0000 miles with them, and never walked. Scooter market dead in US, period.

Would be nice to know service requirements, fuel?  For $10,000 hope it is buffet free.

As we get the AK550 AND the X-citing 400 in the UK market, you’d really have to want that extra 150cc’s to justify the pricing differential, which is £3,200!

done what research I can----looks like 2 belts to replace, CVT and final drive.  How hard? and cost?  Valve adjust?  Sure would like electric touring windshield and how about heated grips.  Going to spend around $10,000 for scooter, might as well get BMW, which is Kymco anyway----and has easy remove rear wheel and electric windshield.  Bike has been on other markets for awhile and should have usual Kymco quality.

Neil I think its not just 100 cc more...otherwise the price increase will not make any sense. It has 2 cyclinder 4v engine, an upgraded suspension, Brembo brakes and different electronics. You guys in the UK have to pay a VAT tax, we don't in the USA. I have a 400i and its good, but there are not that many out here and it seems that parts are hard to get. The AK550 placed 9k USD MSRP which is about 3.5k more than the 400i. OTD depends on what kind of deal you get. Storage is about the same as the 400i and it seems to get good reviews. I will save my judgements about the bike when I go and see it in person.

Don't get me wrong Dean I'd LOVE an AK550 over my XT300, but at £9K it's just not something I could justify to myself - not to mention 'er indoors!  Maybe in a few years second-hand?...

From the service manual servicing the belt in the CVT isn't as involved as say the Burgman 650. It can be done in the bike which I'm guessing is similar to the BMW's. If I had to guess the BMW would cost more not only in initial price but maintenance costs (parts and labor).

looks to me AK 550 rear wheel might be semi-easy remove/replace

German tests over a little over 50 HP.  Various tests a little over indicated 100 mph.  Puig windshield available.

US military discount available.

Parking Brake works like TMAX.= ok

This thing been on other markets for several years.

Not normally. My '03 650 broke just under 40K miles since I was last in the CVT. The AK550 would be like the BMW in replacing the CVT belt which is also a rubber band.

I just got quoted $8500 in NY.   Out the door might be around $10k. I'm coming from a BMW c650 Sport btw.  Take care

I own a BMW C650 Sport.  From what I can see the AK550 is light years ahead of it.   BMW does have a better name and is easier to swallow for the non scooter folks.  And that does add value sadly.

I looked up Givi.de (Germany)  There is Givi Windshield and rack for this model already.  their stuff usually works ok.
