3 motorcycle deaths in 10 hr span...
« on: September 26, 2020, 07:01:13 PM »
All 3 people died from single vehicle crashes.
NO autos involved.
No helmets worn.
One involved alcohol and Yamaha sport bike.

And, I'm feeling a little peculiar.

hate to hear that...I went for a 3 hour 120 mile ride today and I saw a lot of Harleys out there. It's our last warm day before colder weather sets in...wonder if all those guys were also trying to get in some rides while the weather is still warm?

Can't imagine riding without a helmet...or with booze...

When riding a sport bike the horsepower to weight ratio is incredibly and you need all your senses, not impaired with alcohol.  I have been guilty of riding in town with the Lambretta Uno 150 without a helmet. I bought a lite weight Gmax OF-2  like John wears for around town.  I will be wearing it and gloves minimum in town.

A little cooler where you live but in town  air flow is important so sun glasses and open face is important here.  I would probably opt for plain white for reflectivity or at least Union Jack colours.

You’re right about the temperatures KK, very fresh this morning! Open face on viable 3m of the year! Oh and I already have a Union Jack full face Dainese lid, a Neil Hodgson replica, remember him?

Always brings me down whenever I read something similar over here Tom. Single vehicle motorcycle fatalities are almost always as a result of idiocy (inc drink/drugs), lack of skill, inappropriate speed or a combination of these.

A high powered single track machine and anything less than 100% concentration is a recipe for disaster!

Went on a toy run in Wichita several years ago and two Harley riders dropped back and drag raced up a bridge. When they got to the bottom of the other side was many riders moving slowly in the parade of bikes. One of the Harley riders lost it and slid into a curb head first and was killed. What should have been a joyous occasion was overshadowed by this very avoidable act of stupidity.

Went on only one Toy Run ever for the simple reason that with so many riders, you only need one to screw it up. Didn’t like the odds!

After that I just go on the local toy run, still have a lot of bikes.  I gave my old motorcycle jacket to a neighbor. They found a program for the Hutchison toy run and a few dollars in the pocket.

I did not remember Neil Hodgson but did google him. They had a picture of him on a cornor with his shoulder and arm making contact with the track, and I thought it was something to drag a knee in a cornor.
