Stuck on final drive shaft replacement
« on: September 26, 2019, 09:54:10 AM »
I am attempting to get into the gearbox so I can change the drive shaft but I don't know how to open it. I have the service manual and it's vague. What I have is different from all the how to videos and text that I can find on the subject. Inferior to the crankshaft is a part I've never seen before and have no idea how to remove. Anyone know what that is and how to open up this type of transmission? Much appreciated.

I can't seem to add any pictures. Hopefully someone knows what I'm referring to, it looks like a long case minarelli and the dimensions seem correct. The left crankcase has three bolts by the drive pulley and it does not appear to support a panel, so I think the right side must be removed. The right side has the part that attaches to the brake cable and then is the "hammer drive anchor?"

Thanks, I didn’t know how to get around the size restriction for the photos. So the case is different then diagrammed and I think I need to pry it off at this point.

It looks like all you need to do at this point is just separate the final drive and cvt case

I think I need to pry it off at this point.

Yikes! Don't "pry" anything until you're sure of what's going to happen.  The case comes apart easily, with almost no effort, when you remove the bolts.  It's almost a no-brainer.

I am pleased to inform that I got everything replaced with no damage. It just took a little bit of elbow grease.
