Bike Broke Down! :(
« on: July 17, 2019, 05:13:33 AM »
Hey yesterday my bike stalled on the highway.  Tried to start it and it would start and than die so I figured I may need gas but I still had two bars left on the meter indicating I was good but still got some and it started and stayed going after a little pumping of the gas.  But! it is making a very strange sound, seems to be vibrating more than usual and when in idle state it moves forward!! It seems to be idling faster to. What is it?

Air filter? Vacuum tube off? Intake loose? Loose plug wire/cap? Battery connection?

Could be clutch is in a state that causes bike to move forward, damaged spring perhaps.
This accounts for the stalling after starting , but not for the high revs,so I am probably wrong.

high revs, and cutting out, vacuum pipe?

Just got the bike back what happened is one or two of the rollers were flipped over! He asked me when it happened how hard I was braking.  I was stopping hard for the berry stand on the side of the road :)  He said I very soon will need a new clutch or get the Kymco rollers.

Glad you got it figured out and fixed. Sounded very mysterious.

So you have sliders by the sound of it. I have had bad experience with them, so I personally don't recommend them.
However, others have had zero issues, so I can't say what the difference is in the situations, that it works perfectly for one, and issues for others.
Perhaps the they are installed,
or the variator has a certain type of wear.
Just guessing here.
I went with a sports variator, and ditched the rollers they provided, and used my stock rollers, and got a better top end with lower revs, thus saving on the engine wear and tear.
Well, that is the theory, anyway.

I'm glad your safe and the issue was caused by something relatively simple.

15,500 on mine - also no problem.
Maybe big engines don't like them....but come to think of it, my Burgman 400 liked them.
So, not being installed correctly -- including that final placement back on the shaft?!

That is one issue with Dr Pulley sliders.

Tech Pulley now have little 'wings' that prevent that flip over.

Perhaps you can try those.
