RPM
« on: May 24, 2019, 05:20:30 PM »
I just talked to the dealer who got me my bike back in 2016 and I explained my RPM situation and he assured me not to stress over it as it won't hurt my bike.  Like I say it was like this from the start.  He thinks the wrong belt may have been put on it and this is reason for the top speed lowering.

Nonsense! Yes, don't stress over it but do fix the problem, as your engine will wear prematurely and your gasoline bill will increase. A wrong size belt (too long or too narrow) will cause the problem.

My experience with dealers is that they will tell you whatever it takes to get rid of you and your problem, or to make money from it.

Yeah talked to a trusted mechanic and he said yes it is running to high and said it is likely my clutch and or belt.  He said the clutch may need rebuilt or replaced!?

What Stuo said X2! Investigate the belt first. As long as the clutch is operating normally, leave it. Read the numbers off the belt if possible. Measure carefully if numbers are not readable.

what should the numbers be Karl? size belt?
I may not get any trips in this year by the way it is going here for me.  I was evicted yesterday from my apartment all because of a post on facebook that someone decided to show my landlord of me saying to my friends I need to find a place to live cause I am very sick here in this moldy apartment.  He got mad!!! told me to leave by July 1st. :( I never said a thing bad toward him or his name or anything.  Not a thing.  Frig! :( the worse of it all there is nothing out there to rent.  It has been so bad here for about 4 years with this rent situation. Sigh.  I just want to get on my bike and go. But I can't :)

I just ordered a belt from these guys for my DT 300i:

http://www.madhornets.com/drive-belt-for-kymco-downtown-300-350-shadow-gti300-k-xct-nikita-kawasaki-j300-black/

According to the diagram of their belt the circumference around the outside of the belt is 103 centimeters and the width is 25 millimeters.

So sorry to read about your land lord problems.

Last belt I put in a DT300i was a Mitsuboshi 1004 x 25 x 30 = 1004 mm circumference, 25 mm wide, 30 degree angle.
