Hi! big suprise to find a message!
I in the meantime bought a Sym 300i and have been running it in so havnt been on the xciting much! but i took it for a 80km spin last w.end and its going like a dream! in November iam planing a 700km trip with it and iam sure to then know for sure!
I in the meantime removed the plastic covers on the variator and polished the ally cover and fitted a metal sive at the fan and some fansy end screws in the cover holes!
I am sure it will run much cooler! it is a bit more noisy but it does not bother me! it looks great! i will try and post a pix.

Hey, great!  That's what I've been wanting to hear about.  Thanks!

Been running mine without plastic on the CVT also.  I kinda like the siren sound on decelleration.  :D

In answer to Alex's query about the washer removed.....this weekend i took it out and at 120km its rpm is just over 6000rpm. At 140kmh it is just over 7000rpm and I MUST ADD this is GPS speeds not the speed on the speedo! So I have stil 1000rpm left before redline......it wil prob do 160 (down hill!! as i dont think it would be able to hold 8000rpm!)

? iolite, did removing the washer raise the RPM or lowwer the RPM at highway speeds? Does the clutch engage faster/sooner at take off? ???

The bottom line is! The clutch still engages at the same rpm because the clutch was not altered (thats on the back pulley) once the clutch engages the rpm is lower right thru your speeds making the pull away perhaps a little slower (torque issue ) but you have at least 10km more top end and the engine is running at lower rpm that should improve fuel consumption and "lengthen" the life of the engine as its doing fewer rpm (although thats prob splitting hair! ) the only thing that we will only find out in time is the strain it puts on the belt??

...definately watch the belt..

..if it's a kevler, then look at it daily!!!

..you DON'T want to pop one of those...

..makes an aweful mess..

..you can install a (slightly) longer drive belt, which will again increase top speed, but will also require further cvt tuning...

..love them success stories tho!!

It would seem that the clutch would engage at a lower engine rpm since it does alter the ratio between the engine and the clutch.  However, iolite has done it and ridden it, not me.   ;D  So he should know.
