installing stock LIKE200i exhaust
« on: February 03, 2019, 05:17:27 PM »
Re-hanging the heavy/awkward exhaust can be a bit of fun.
I tied the muffler up, so it can move about - while using a mirror to  line up and hand thread in the nuts on the engine studs.
Taking the weight off of you is a help - while you get things connected under there.
Everything is loose until all fittings are in place - then tighten. GENTLE with those stud nuts! - it is possible to strip stud from engine head!

BTW- I disconnect the distant end of the oxygen sensor wire, and leave the O2 sensor fitted to the exhaust pipe (it case it is seized)

Context . . just curious why the exhaust was removed?

Removing rear wheel for a new tire.
Some feel it is necessary also when bleeding rear brake, or replacing rear pads -- but I've found that removing exhaust is not actually required.
(Vespbretta and I both did a DIY on removal of rear wheel.)
Getting exhaust off is much easier than the reverse.

I think I used my feet to hold up the muffler while sitting/ lying on the garage floor. I recommend the Stigs way of doing it.
