Transporting the Agility 50

Hi, all. I'm looking for ideas on how others have transported their Agility 50. I found one, after a long time of searching, from a dealer about 2 hours away. It is a 2007 model and I don't really know if I found a great deal or not, but there isn't a large selection of used scooters in my area of Virginia even on Craigslist. We have one local dealer and when I saw one on their website I went to the bank and took out my money. By the time I got home I had an email waiting for me from them saying they no longer carried this model.  So when I found one from a dealer for under a $1,000 out the door I felt I'd better jump on it quick. I don't have a vehicle,and Man, how I miss my 16 passenger van now, with 8 of the back seats removed!

I'm looking for cheap options because the purchase will take just about every penny I have saved for it over the past 2 years. I don't have a vehicle. My son has a Jeep, and even though he's super busy at the moment I would bug and beg for his time, but the dealer said it won't fit. He suggested towing it behind the Jeep with some equipment from U-Haul for $12? I'm not 100% sure the Jeep has a hitch, but I'm thinking it does, will check tonight. I checked the U-Haul website and saw an actual "Motorcycle Trailer" for $14.95, but they don't have any available in my area all week. I'm afraid if I have to wait until the weekend or Monday it will be gone.

It's a fairly straight shot from there to here and most of the trip is all on one road, but it is all Highway and I just wouldn't be comfortable with trying to drive it that distance without speed on my side. It took a long time to save for it and I want to get it home in one piece. I'm sure some folks would and I'm not beyond doing what it takes. In my younger days I probably would have been off of a Greyhound bus and waiting at the dealer's door for them to open on Monday morning and drove all day if I had to to get it back home. 

Here's hoping someone else out there has been in my position and might have some creative ideas to share on ways they have transported theirs. Thanks all!

..fortunately, i've never had to haul my guilty, but i have loaded my ppl a few times...

...get y'self a pick-up truck...roll'r up into the back...

..put it up on the center stand, with the front wheel against the front of the truck's bed..

..secure each handlebar with a strap, then secure the rear through the rack...

..ratchet those straps down good and tight...you'll be just fine...

  Welcome to the forum I picked up a little hauler for about a $100 on cl. if you got a hitch it worked great for a 1500 mi.round trip

..rianna, i have over 51,000 kms on my A50 that i bought new in Dec of 07...

..you, potentially have a lil beastie there...

..with a few mods, you could take off to nearly anywhere without worry of your speeds..(except th interstates)

..as long as you have plenty of time to get there!!..lol..

 If the jeep top is removable shoud not be a problem + rear seat I used to hall my dirt bike in an old 60's bronco no problem,with the tail gate down could get 2 in there,little cramped but could be done. With riding gear also!!!

  Ha I think my cr 500 may have been a little longer and my buddy's tt 500  Getting them in was a chore though.

Wow, I'm not great with conversions, but 51,000 kms sounds like it's over 20,000 miles, is that right?!? If so, that is awesome! I'm not sure I've ever even kept and driven a car that far, lol.

My son came home and it looks like he's not going to have the time to help at all this week. It's a shame because it turns out he does have the hitch. It would have been great if I could have just dropped him off somewhere and borrowed it and then picked him back up 5 or 6 hours later, but it's not gonna work out.  I may just have to rent me a little pick-up truck or something and ask the scoot shop fellas to help me boost it up in it.

There was an ad on Craigslist for movers and it said they had a flat rate fee for moving larger items. I shot them an email and they replied back real quick with a quote of $340. Yikes! I think an hourly U-haul plus mileage might be less, unless they add expensive insurance or something.

I hope I can get it too, wordslinger, it will be a dream for just around town here even at 30mph. I haven't had a vehicle for about 2 yrs now because I can't afford the insurance when I'm not working. I can't even remember what it was like to just be able to go the store when you run out of something or just want something. Going for groceries once a month because the taxicab rates are so high sucks. If you forget something you are just SOL until the next month rolls around. Lol. But I'll definitely hit you all up for the mod ideas if I get and get a little money again.

Thanks for the pic, art, that's a cool little thing to have. A great investment for the price, too, even if you only use it a few times! I may have to keep that in mind for the future. I think the A50 is around 200 pounds. I bet that cr 500 is heavy!!!

 Ha! No not heavy at all for a dirt bike,my buddy's tt 500 that was heavy. That was back in the day it's all about the scooters now! You'll love the freedom and ease of a scoot,thats what got me into it.

Oh no! Decisions, decisions, lol.

I've been searching for a scooter for what feels like forever now and having no luck. I was planning to go the dealer this Friday or Saturday and pick up the Agility now someone has gotten back to me about a liquid cooled Super 9. Suddenly I've got choices. It's older (2004) with 6 or 7,000 miles on it and needs a few things (sppedometer cable, few scratches on it), but it's already de-restricted to save me some work and he is willing to deliver it to me for $30. He wants $850. I'm soooo confused. lol. I was set to jump on it because it would save me about a hundred bucks for the scoot plus the cost and hassle of transporting a scooter. Then I stop back in here to see what I can find about the Super 9 and I read wordslinger's post about the Agility hitting 36,700 miles and still kicking! That's awesome! Shame I can't get them both. 

What would you do? Anybody have any thoughts to throw out there for or against either one? There's so much to consider and I'm so tired of researching, reading and thinking about it all.

I just want to RIDE! Lol.

 I wouldn't have considered owning one a few years ago either, but I have a feeling I'm gonna love it and wish I had done it sooner.

    The s9 has a great reputation It is a 2 stroke(auto gas and oil mix) should have some real good power may not run 50,000 miles but they are alot easier to work on and the liquid cooled is saposed to be one of the best 2 stroke motors around.
  If it was neer me I'd get it! Ha! offer $800 plus delivery. Have him show you everything there is to know about it and the forum can fill ya in on the rest. I would take a real good look at that radiater. Don't want to see any crud,slime or goo in there    Might ask if he has done a belt or roller change recently if not offer less. Good luck!!!

Thanks, art! I'm gonna go look for that link again. I think I saw a link for the manual, I should have saved it when I first saw it. I hate to sound so stupid, but I don't know what a radiator on this thing will look like. I'm gonna learn, though. I have changed spark plugs, oil and transmission filters. etc....small stuff...on cars, but I'm scooter stupid, lol. Where there's a will there's a way.

I asked if he has a helmet he can throw in. Waiting to see what he says. It is de-restricted already but no performance parts added. Can I ask if you know if there is a quick easy way to tell for sure that it is liquid cooled. The guy seems to be telling it straight, I just know from experience that some people will say anything to make a sale, if you know what I mean.
