Standard main jet.
« on: August 09, 2010, 12:32:05 AM »
I need to change/fix my oil sensor/sending unit on my X500 (it's weeping a little oil). It is located directly above the oil fill hole so I will need to take the under seat plastic box out to get to it. While I am there, I am going to check out if a cone style K&N filter will fit or not? Maybe it will on the end of the carb if the breather box can be removed? Also when im there I think I will bump up to the next main jet size do to the fact that I will be putting on a Leo Vince exhaust set up. Also as we all know bikes with carbs are always set up a little to lean. Anyone know what the stock main jet size is? I have read it is a 108? But I am not sure this is right? Also, what carb brand is it anyway? :-*

That trick 500 that we've seen in the video somewhere in this section with the yoshimura carb had the cone air filter mounted to the end of the stock snorkle back where the air box used to be.  At least it looked like the stock snorkle.  Might be something to try -- have to find something to use as a coupler that'd adapt the filter to the end of it.

I don't know the jet or carb make, sorry.

Drifter, was the 118 jet the original jet that came in your bike? Or did you change it to a 118? Thanks, Sissy. :-*

it came with the bike. the 2006 model and the 2009 model x500. A fellow x500 owner of mine will try to change his 05 model to a 108 size. we only get 18km-20km per liter. not sure what it is in MPG

..108 is MIGHTY small for such a large scoot..

..i ran a 106 on my agility 50 when i had the blown air induction...

..running a 101 now...

I have played arround with the jets and fitted a 110 and even slightly smaller as i am in high altitude but i have fitted the 118 back! it def runs the best on that size.

I am with wordslinger, that sounds rather small, what size carb is it? I am currently running a 125 main in my 24mm carb, 80cc 2 stroke.
ZX50, 47mm cyl. kit, TZR50 CDI. Michelin Pilot Sport tyres,
Next performance mod; pumping the tyres up.

forgot if it's a 36 or 38.

Planning to replace it with a 40mm or same size but a carb without those diaphragm. Mine is swollen again after 3 months and now has a leak.

For now i replaced my carb (09") with the 06" carb runs much better but the diaphragm is also swollen and i noticed that the carb have different part numbers.

mine is more than 3 turns out. That's how it likes it. Set-up: ngk iridium, replaced the air filter element, malossi varitor with dr. Pulley sliders, leo vince pipe. Swap my 09 carb with an 06 n0t sure if they're same but serial # diff.

Pardon me for interrupting with what is perhaps a stupid question.  Isn't the '09 fuel injected?  If so, then did you put a carb in place of the throttle body injection?  And if so, then won't the ECU be confused?  Or have you worked around that or am I completely off base?? :D

mine is still the carb type. kymco here has not yet realesd the fi version. replaced the stock air filter element with a simota air filter element. plug color is just right.
