Clutch Plate Replacement
« on: June 09, 2018, 07:07:46 AM »
My Venox rattles while in third gear so I skip it and go directly to fourth.  Previous owner has been doing this for several years and runs okay he says.

Question is: should I be worried about other effects?  I am thinking I need to replace the third gear friction plate - are other brand clutch plates (like a honda rebel) compatible with the Venox transmission?

Not familiar with the Venox particularly, but shouldn't all the gears use the same plates?

Besides sounding terribly inconvenient, the things I would watch for is avoiding lugging the engine and extra clutch wear by having to stay on the clutch for longer. Otherwise, it doesn't care what gear you're in.

The gears are not plates that is the clutch assembly you are talking about and they would be the same for all the gears I think you might have an issue with 3rd gear only

So by gear assembly you mean the gear cam stopper and spindle?  Wouldn't that effect all the gears and not just the third gear?
