It's the standard raised attached seat 'back' of the GV250.  I removed it because i found the seat more comfortable without.

You might keep it and reinstall it when you sell the scoot. I have mine stored away for that reason.

Mine is getting damaged by the sun.  How do you remove it?  I wanted to take if off and paint it black to protect it.

Mr. Bios: The GV 250 has a padded lumbar support that is bolted to the seat pan and is easily removed by unscrewing the three nuts on the bottom of the seat pan. I did it and ignore the three holes in the seat vinyl. Others who removed it seem to be bothered by the holes.

Thanks!  Has anyone take off the passenger backrest?  I wanted to paint the vinyl black to prevent further sun damage?

I discovered the secret; you pry it off after I applied some grease to the mounts -- see pictures.
