KYMCO UXV 450i GROUND CLEARANCE...
« on: January 30, 2017, 01:36:32 AM »
IN CASE YOU ALL DIDN"T KNOW, IT SUCKS!!!!! Got to get more clearance, especially on the front end. I was so aggravated with the clearance today. I put it through its paces and she always pulled through, but high centered a hand full of times. Got to fix this ASAP.

You can move the front shocks to the outer mounting position and crank them up a little.  My 450i went from 8" clearance in the front to 12". And has made no effect on ride quality

Yeah I am planning to adjust my shocks on the preload. And I'm shopping 26" tires now. Relocating the shocks out will be my last resort.

Havent had that issue yet, but then again I pay very close attention to what I am running over. With a machine slightly reduced in size you cannot expect it to go over objects taller than other machines will go. If you do your research most machines are around 10 in ground clearance so pick your path more wisely.

Why your last resort when it's the quickest and easiest step?

Do you have room to go bigger than 26"?  You'll only gain 1/2" in ground clearance going from the factory 25" tires to aftermarket 26" tires.

I went to 26 and relocated the shocks.  It made a world of difference. We ride mostly boulder strewn rocky trails. Here's a picture showing 26 on the left, 25 on the right and rear shocks in stock location.

I have adjusted all of my shocks. Got the maxxis bighorn 2.0 ordered. the front tires (26x9-12) arrived yesterday. The rear tires (26x10-12-had to find this size on ebay as maxxis only makes the 26x10-12 bighorns for the john deere gators) should be here Monday. I can already tell it is sitting a little bit higher just from adjusting the shocks. I think I'll be in good shape with the new tires. These "25 inch" stock tires are no way an actual mounted height of 25" more like 23" IMO. The rear tires on my commercial JD zero turn are bigger than the stock tires on this thing and they are 24x12-12 tires.

You'll be good to go now.

I hope so looking forward to seeing the tires on the machine. Noticed any difference in power or the power delivery?? How about top speed?

How are your skidplates holding up? They look kinda cheap and flimsy.
